Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the Annapurna region's best-kept secrets - a hidden gem that offers spectacular mountain views, enchanting forests, and a genuine sense of wilderness without the crowds of the more famous treks. Opened to trekkers in 2012, this relatively new route takes you to the base of Mardi Himal (5,587m), a beautiful peak nestled beside the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

The trek begins with a scenic drive to Pokhara, then to the trailhead at Kande. The trail winds through enchanting rhododendron and oak forests, past traditional villages and terraced farmlands, before emerging above the tree line onto a spectacular ridge. The views from the ridge are simply breathtaking - Machhapuchhre dominates the skyline, while Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the entire Annapurna range stretch out before you.

The highlight is the early morning hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m), where you stand at the foot of the mountain with Machhapuchhre towering beside you. This trek is perfect for those with limited time who still want an authentic Himalayan experience - it's shorter and less demanding than treks like Annapurna Base Camp, but no less rewarding in terms of scenery and mountain intimacy.
